Young's Gym is now offering a fitness based Christian preschool as part of its curriculum! Our 1st preschool class will begin in September 2012. We are very excited to offer this new program in our business. We have been teaching the children of Wake Forest and surrounding areas for nearly 20 years now! Our newly renovated gym includes our classroom and we feel a preschool class is a natural extension of the services we have provided in the community of Wake Forest for nearly two decades!

Young's Gym & Learn Mission: To offer a quality education and development experience that will prepare young children for kindergarten. Our program provides a Christian environment with a biblically based curriculum, while also incorporating different levels of fitness activities with the intent to develop the young child intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Our Classes:

Young's Gym & Learn Curriculum: Young’s Gym and Learn Preschool uses the A Beka Preschool Curriculum, for both academic and Bible learning. The fitness aspect of the preschool will take place in addition to this curriculum. Our staff is educated in the knowledge of child development and appropriate teaching practices and we are also provided a learning environment based upon the acknowledgement of the dignity of and love for each child entrusted into our care. Effective early childhood curriculum is focused on the age and development needs of the child and his/her abilities and interests, influences by multiple social and cultural contexts. Focus on the individual child is key.

A Beka Curriculum: A Beka has been in existence for thirty years and is recognized as the standard of excellence in providing educational curriculums and materials. It is a Christian-based curriculum that incorporates different levels of learning based on the individual child’s needs. The curriculum is well-known for its advances in education. The curriculum includes daily lesson plans, a scope and sequence, as well as teaching information, pacing, and enrichment ideas. Young's Gym & Learn 2012-2013 Teachers:

Julie Mims Plunk: Ms. Julie is serving as the Preschool Director and as a teacher. She has been working at Young’s Gym for over three years and has recently earned a Masters Degree in Christian Education and Biblical Counseling. Julie recently married in March and is excited for all the new things coming up in her life. She has an energetic, bubbly personality and loves children!

Liz Fowler: Liz will also be serving as a teacher. Before moving to Wake Forest, she taught preschool for six years in Tulsa, OK. Liz is currently pursuing a graduate degree in counseling at Southeastern Seminary. She has worked in the office at Young’s since August 2011 and has enjoyed getting to know the gymnastics families. She can’t wait to meet your child and be a part of this exciting time in his/her life!
